ITU International Triathlon Union has been founded in 1989 and 104 countries are members by '94. In 1994,IOC recognized Triathlon as a 2000 Sydney Olympic athletics officially. In Japan,JTU(Japan Triathlon Union) has been founded in 1994 and joined ITU. ITU holds Championship every year in different places over the world and also opens 10 to 11 races in series of Triathlon World Cup to determine international ranking since 1991. IOC approved a good race distance which is 51.5Km(swim 1.5Km,bike 40Km,run 10Km)and named an Olympic Distance. Triathlon World Cup is held with 15 world top athletes from other countries and 15 elite athletes from host countries, man and woman races separately. A keen competition is expected. Recently formation of course is tending to circulate so that spectators can see athletes many times and enjoy watching. |
